Xbox 360 and surround sound speakers

Hi guys, new to this forum, but not new to forums

I've done a search on this and not got many results that are of any help.

Basically, having read a little bit on this site, I've figured out that I won't get surround sound from my TV so I don't need to worry about hooking the speakers up to the TV since the TV speakers will probably be sufficient (which made sense when I thought about it )

So, I'm looking to get a high definition TV, the LG 26c55 or something. Basically a 26" HD ready one. Not true 1080P, which I'm fine with.
I read a review of the Logitech G51 (I would post a link but I'm not allowed haha) speakers, which sound good, and got a great review.
But after a bit of research, I'm thinking I probably won't be able to connect them to my Xbox 360.

So, I'm looking to get a set of speakers, that give true surround sound (not just sound taken and put round a 5.1 system), that will work with my Xbox 360, for up to £150, that have good sound quality.
    Easy, no?

    Thanks, Sean.

I suggest you buy a second hand system (look in AV forums). Get a cheap £80-£100 amp (denon 1800/1900 series go for around this eg) and spend the rest on the best second hand speakers you can find there...

Re: Xbox 360 and surround sound speakers

What would be the benefit of getting an amp and seperate speakers?
I only have the one input at the moment (just my Xbox 360) and I won't need to use the speakers for anything else, so I'm finding it hard to justify spending £180 on an amp and however much more on speakers.

I am very new to this, so please forgive me if I'm being ignorant
Just a bit of nurturing would be ace.
Thanks for the replies so far.

Superior sound quality. Massive flexibility in the future (you can connect xbox, ps3, pc, plus everything else) to the amp and have it doing the sound and video switching.

But if you are only ever going to use a 360 with it then its probably not worth it. Just go for on of those xbox 360 speaker pack thingies then
