    blu ray films to get?

    Hi,
Just got a blu ray player & ordered we were soldiers, oceans 11, & blood diamond. realised just how few blu ray films there really are at the moment (especially in high street stores)

any recommendations for some decent blu ray films? Most of the ones i recognise (and know are good) i already have on dvd

Is 30 Days Of Night worth getting? Looks good (but then even rubbish films normally look good until you watch them...). Saw blade runner is out on blu ray too -- never seen it, but heard its quite a long and boring film? (although... it does seem very popular?)

Saw 30 days of nights in cinema and actually thought it was pretty entertaining, and scary at times. Would look good in blu ray for sure. Apocalypto is meant to look amazing, i rented it but didnt get to watch it due to exams lol.

They should bring gladiator out on blu ray!! and star wars.

    300

Not for the ridiculous portrayal of the spartan army, but for its pure sit in awe of the combat scenes.

I should think I am legend would be good too.

Kingdom of Heaven on Blue ray is supposed to have one of the best picture qualities from what i've heard. Other worth mentions are Fifth Element, and for pure cinematic visual stimulus The Fountain. Which for me at least was one of the most visually pleasing cinematography i've seen.

But regardless of what I said about 300.

Dont get too hung up on it, a crap film will still be a crap film in HD

Movietyme.com sell region free Blu-rays, cheaper than you'll get on the high st & prob a wider choice too. Also, I rent both BD and HD-DVD from Love Film (well, Cd Wow in fact, but they're the same company) so could be worth looking into that.

Kingdom of Heaven is visually and aurally a very very good on blu ray, it's just a shame the film kinda sucked.

I've seen it twice (theatrical & director's cut) and both were not that good. It's nthing to do with understanding, or lack of, more to do with wooden acting, and a dull script. Though it's based on historical happenings I'm not convinced of it's accuracy.

Same as 300, but they accpeted the fact it wasnt going to be like the actual events. And it worked I think.

Its not accurate, but i'm not sure i agree with you on the wooden acting, there are a few bits that are substandard, but its decent overall.
