Thoughts please on a divx player / apple av out.
Hi all, i'm in the market for a divx streamer / player that will play media files independantly ie in a remote location without a PC close by, without internet even (french holiday home that the wife wont let me bring a computer to
).Primarily i'm talking about videos, but potentially music and photos too. Does anyone have experience / opinion on this player: Icy Box IB-MP302S-B , £52 It will displayed on a 20" LCD (rubbish, but it's all we have for now) which i can only presume has the normal inputs, but i have honestly no idea really. Obviously i'd slap in a SATA drive filled with content and then take it over there. The only other alternative that i can think of (apart from a large wodge of DVDs) is some sort of ipod dock with AV out, but i hear that the quality of ipod stuff scaled up is pretty poor. Hmm... a quick scout around shows that (surprisingly) the UK Apple store has (for £29.99) a dock, with remote control, that allows audio & visual output to a TV. Anyone got one of these? All advice appreciated. Edit: After much reading around on the issue, and given that i have an iPod 'clasic', i have realised that nearly all of the ipod video-out docks cannot do the job as Apple have disabled video out for all but 'apple-chipped' products. Idiots! As for the £29.99 dock, it comes with no leads, which you have to buy seperately for another £29.99. Nice. Looks like the ipod side of things is a no-go, and i may in fact end up buying a DVD player with divx capacity. |
