    Headphones and speakers for uni

    Hey all,

I'm looking for some half decent headphones and speakers for my laptop while I'm at uni. They'll mainly be to listen to music.

    Headphones
    Sennheiser HD555 - £65

    Speakers
    Creative GigaWorks T20 - £52
    Creative GigaWorks T10 - £30

I'd be willing to spend the £125 (inc shipping) on the T20 and HD555 but only if it's really worth it. So, my questions are:
    1. Which did you use most in your room at uni? Speakers or headphones?
    2. Are the T20s worth the extra £20 over the T10s?

    Thank guys

I use my speakers all the time at uni (Logitech x-540 5.1) and only ever bother with headphones+mic when im playing games.

I much prefer speakers and no-one ever seemed to mind the noise, as long as its not too loud at night obviously, or you can expect some noise complaints from the residential people.

I've never used the T10's but I love the T20's. Such a great sound and mine were only £40.

Try and get PC world to price match

Should work out very cheap for them

The headphones you've listed there are great for sure... but you might want to consider a set of Plantronics .Audio 770 - with "surround sound"... just £38.41 (including FREE 'Super-Saver' delivery) on Amazon

Alternatively... I've still got an 'old' set of Plantronics DSP 500 USB, which are great 'phones for both listening to music +/or gaming
They've since been updated with the DSP 550's... which are available on Amazon for (the quite incredible price of) just £27.00 + P&P

Your speaker choices are both good 'uns... and if you opted for either of the Plantronics headsets, instead of the Sennheiser's... you'd be able to afford the T40's... or even Logitech's Z10's

    Have you considered Grado headphones?

I have heard very good things about them, especially for rock music. I have yet to try them though.

Although, if you listen to music on the move, you might want to consider closed back headphones or in-ear phones.

I love my Grado SR80's - I got mine for £80 a bit ago. I tried Sennheisers as well (I have a wee set of PX100's which I think are ace for the money).

Get into a hifi shop and try them out. They all have a slightly different presentation so its definitely a case of try before you buy as everyone is different.

We've wasted our time posting suggestions. The OP hasn't logged into the forums since starting the thread
