Looking for a cheap but good freeview box ..... .... so which are the ones to go for. HD is not of interest, so it's standard Freeview that's needed. No recording facility either, so all I'm after is a cheap but reliable simple box, with decent image quality. Given that images are decent, really it's the cheapest/smallest. Oh and it's not for me, so there's no point trying to advocate HD etc - the person wanting it isn't in the slightest bit interested. Opinions? Noli nothis permittere te terere. ![]()

Re: Looking for a cheap but good freeview box ..... Well, we just bought a cheap one from Tesco. I know you said no recording but it only cost £64 ish and it has an 80g hard drive, dual tuner etc. Really pleased with it too. TECHWOOD is the make.

Re: Looking for a cheap but good freeview box ..... My nephew installs satellite and digital terretrial kit for a living and says he gets less grief from Humax than other brands. Superfi has them at £48.89 atm (+ free delivery). Obviously dearer than tescos own brand but it does have a 2 year warranty, which may be worth something to you. I got one for my folks, they liked it so much they got a pvr version for their big telly.
