    Panasonic Lcd Tv

    Hi M8s

i'am interested in buying a Panasonic TX37LZD85 Lcd television but have been told by 2 dealers that there is now a shortage of units, is this because Panasonic are due to bring out new models or is this just the credit crunch?,

A little of both imo. There are new models out soon. Those that still have stock of Panasonic plasmas are charging £100-£200 more than a few months ago.

If you are looking at a Panasonic stick with it. Very good sets, and not a lot comes close in terms of performance or features. The new models are just around the corner, though may come at a significant price hike (sony were warning of a 30% rise due to changing exchange rates alone, quite apart from the reduced volume in which they may need to be produced due to the Credit Crunch).

That said, I've been rather impressed by the 7 series and above Samsungs. Good looking sets, good performance and a well featured set. User interface not as easy as some of the Panasonics, but still rather nice. Oh, and a nice red frame reducing the size of the set visually as it isn't a great black mass on the wall or on a stand.

Well if you are sticking to Panasonic which as mentioned is probably a good idea, then The LZD85 is a great TV with all the features you'd really need.

If however you go above 40" then i'd agree that Samsung's 7 / 8 series are well worth a look, especially as if you shop around a 40" 7 series can be had for the same kinda money as the LZD85.

It might however be of value to you if you hold on until the new range of Panasonics come in and as such any remaining clearence of the LZD800 or LZD85 will hopefully be going cheaper.
