| Network|Geek | 32" LCD TV Choices... Hi Folks, I'm buying a 32" LCD TV for my room on Monday - but I don't know which one to get! I've narrowed it down to these two; Samsung LE32A436 - http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...V/Product.html Toshiba 32XV555DB - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-32XV.../ref=de_a_smtd The Sammy seems to have a better range of inputs, but the Tosh is Full HD, which may be better as I intend to run my PC through this TV too - but I really have no idea which one to go for, Full HD is probably wasted at that screen size? Which would the knowledgeable folks of Hexus vote for? I'm open to any other suggestions/recommendations too! Cheers, David "If you're not on the edge, you're taking up too much room!" - me, 2005 |

Samsung 32a457 would be my bet: http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...=SAMS-LE32A457 £299 there aswell ![]() The Tosh is a good telly, decently priced 1080p set, but having compared my Toshiba 32c3035 (720p) - a very well regarded set - to the new models, both the AV (720p) and XV (1080p) they are lacking in colour vibrancy. Do you do anything apart from the PC side that you need 1080p for? PS3 etc? ![]() ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ. |

I'd have SD Freeview/PC/Xbox 360 running off the TV, the Xbox will look good@720p I think, and I'd be using the PC to play Blu-Rays, but I don't know if they're released as 1080p or not? | Re: 32" LCD TV Choices... On a 32" screen there isn't a chance you could tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. There have been a number of studies and tests on resolution and all point to the human eye being quite poor at spotting definition past a certain point. A lot of people with HD projectors find it hard to tell the difference and that's with a picture of up to 100" Main PC: Asus P6T6 WS Revo / i920 @ 4GHz / 12GB DDR3-1600 / 4870x2 + 8600GTS / Areca 1680 / Xonar D2X / Seasonic M12-700 / 2x Dell 3007 / Win 7 x64 Ultimate Main PC Raid Setup: 2 x 80GB G2 Intel SSD (OS and Apps - RAID0) / 2 x 64GB Samsung SSD (Games - RAID0) / 4 x 1TB Sumsung F1 (Mass Storage - RAID5) Spare PC: Asus Blitz Formula / Q6600 @ 3.4GHz / 6GB DDR2-6400 / 8800GTX / X-Fi Fatal1ty / Xclio 700W Modular / Dell 2405 / Various SATA drives / Win 7 x64 Ultimate HTPC: ASRock ConRoe945G-DVI / E5300 / 4GB DDR2-6400 / HD4550 / TH50PHD9 / 2 x 1.5TB Samsung F2 / LG GGW-H10N / Win 7 x86 Pro Server: Asus P5K / Q9550 / 8GB DDR2-8000 / Matrox G550 / Areca 1210 / 2 x 320GB Seagate 7200.10 / ESX 4.0 NAS: Thecus N5200 with 5 x WD6400AAKS (Modded to PRO) My latest 3DMark score | RAID Peformance | My DVD Collection |

| Network|Geek | Re: 32" LCD TV Choices... Shame that TV is store pickup only dave, that would be a 284 mile round trip - may well negate any saving! I wasn't totally convinced about getting a full HD set, I may just go for the Samsung I linked to, it'll do me fine I tihnk - unless anybody knows of any reason why I shouldn't? | Re: 32" LCD TV Choices... Have to say I would go with the samsung over the Toshiba, even if it is Full HD. The Toshiba screens imho are rather soft and the colour vibrancy is poor. If you've got the money, look at the newer range of Samsungs that have just arrived like this one: http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/d...LE32B550A5WXXC Otherwise there are some competitive clearance prices around for Panasonic LXD85s which is a great 720p set with 100hz.
