| Senior Trouble Maker | Re: Sony strdg820 What do you want to use it for? If it is purely getting a good 5.1 sound from your various inputs, Xbox, Movies (High-Def) etc, then it's not a bad price, it just may be hard to source in RS stores. However there are better receivers on the market, but you pay the price I have no personal experience of the DG820, but I hear very positive things about it. Have you looked at the Denon 1909 [the remote is weird though]. I don't know how this compares, but it doesn't support decoding of Hi-Def formats (i.e. if you bitstream from your player) LPCM will be fine however.Make a list of the features you want, and tailor the receiver and speakers to it. I plumped for the Onkyo SR606 (it chucks out a lot of heat), but there are 2 (and more) features I couldn't without. Zone 2 speakers; which means I can listen to analogue sources on a separate pair of stereo speakers, Video Up-Conversion - all the inputs are outputted by one single HDMI cable, so it means in the future I can move the receiver away from the TV and just have one cable with everything I want going to the TV to transfer all the pictures. OSD is important I would say to help set it up and tweak settings, looks and size may be important to you... AVF may help you out a little more: http://www.avforums.com/forums/av-am...-part-2-a.html ![]() Mac fancier > white macbook base spec ..................
