    HEXUS Popcorn Owners

following advice from workmates , I've traded in my trusty XBMC for a Popcorn hour A-110.

have to say its pretty neat , if a little noiser that I'd hoped ( have fitted a quiet Samsung 1.5Tb drive for a little local storage )

The interface feels a bit of a let down , especially when I'm used to the slickness of the XBMC interface. Network speeds are a little bit of a letdown too- I can see why many people would rather have their storage separate to the NMT.

So has anyone got any recommended addons - I've tried Llink in order to play content from within RAR files - doesn't seem to be that stable though.

    I have one

Have a C200 on the way too (shipping next week).

Had my A100 (basically same but without DTS decoding) since 2007.

YAMJ and UMC are worth a look. Should help tidy up your media and gives you a much less clunky GUI.

If you install the CSI there is a HDD control app that can slow it down a bit

What do these give you over a HTPC?

I have been toying with the idea of a HTPC for a while (mainly for streaming music and film....I have Sky for watching TV), yet these seem fairly cheap in comparison.

    Main PC: Asus P6T6 WS Revo / i920 @ 4GHz / 12GB DDR3-1600 / 4870x2 + 8600GTS / Areca 1680 / Xonar D2X / Seasonic M12-700 / 2x Dell 3007 / Win 7 x64 Ultimate
    Main PC Raid Setup: 2 x 80GB G2 Intel SSD (OS and Apps - RAID0) / 2 x 64GB Samsung SSD (Games - RAID0) / 4 x 1TB Sumsung F1 (Mass Storage - RAID5)
    Spare PC: Asus Blitz Formula / Q6600 @ 3.4GHz / 6GB DDR2-6400 / 8800GTX / X-Fi Fatal1ty / Xclio 700W Modular / Dell 2405 / Various SATA drives / Win 7 x64 Ultimate
    HTPC: ASRock ConRoe945G-DVI / E5300 / 4GB DDR2-6400 / HD4550 / TH50PHD9 / 2 x 1.5TB Samsung F2 / LG GGW-H10N / Win 7 x86 Pro
    Server: Asus P5K / Q9550 / 8GB DDR2-8000 / Matrox G550 / Areca 1210 / 2 x 320GB Seagate 7200.10 / ESX 4.0
NAS: Thecus N5200 with 5 x WD6400AAKS (Modded to PRO)

have resisted YAMJ and it ilk as it annoys me to have to recompile the html and produce the nfo files :S

in some respects I think I'd actually prefer an HTPC but the faffing level was too high and this works pretty well out of the box.

    UMC > YAMJ imo

And when v1.9 is release the server mode will stop you having to "re-scan" although I half expect this to be acheived by doing periodic scans.
