    Thanks for the replies..

    - fuddam - I've edited standard def using vegas before and rendered to WMV for upload to the web - I just wondered if you render your HD footage and leave it in its original format? I want to do this as i want to burn it to DVD or Bluray?? Is it possible with Vegas?

    Cheers

yep. you could even create the bluray disk straight from the timeline, without going into DVDA to create menus etc. Not as flexible, but very simple operation.

Just have to careful with the bitrate. IIRC, needs to be around 15mbs - problem with Blu Ray if you try to use higher rate, esp if putting on regular DVD. I haven't needed to output BR, so only reporting what I've heard.

If you try to render to mpeg2, there are a load of Blu Ray templates to try, in the presets, inclu your 1920x1080 60i. Bit rate is up to a max 30mbs, but you'll have to test for yourself.

MPEG-2 will need huge bit-rates for acceptable quality in comparison to H.264 !! If you use H.264 your looking at around 12Mbps for near blu-ray quality, and depending on what size files it is your shooting you may be able to go over the top and use 25-30Mbps bit-rates.

Thanks Fuddam it help a lot.

My PC seems to be able to render clips in no time at all, although I haven't tried to burn a DVD from the tomeline yet.

    Thanks everyone
