    The Rasmus

    *gets ready behind sofa*

I quite like this new album.....really....more than I'd thought.

*ducks as cushion whizzes past head*

Its really worth getting....each track starts heavy, and if you wind up the speakers to MAX it sounds quite metal....then it mellows but stays very musical....

Kinda like Savage Garden but with a little more attitude

    anybody like it ?

I like it too, first time I saw the band on a video I was surprised they were a 'goth' band.

The rasmus are to metal what blink 182 are to punk imo

I heard the album the other day and wasn't all to impressed with it really, the guy looks like ville valo's ugly second cousin tbh its just all too poptastic for my liking i'm afraid

best albums out recently to my mind have gotta be breed77 - cultura, drowning pool - desensitize and killswitch engage - the end of the heartache.

*edit* sometimes i feel an urge to be very ashamed of you steve */edit*

I know what you mean BUT give them their due, they ARE good, if a little "poptastic", but they certainly are on the heavier side, and it's just good fun to listen to I think.... not deep, not scary, just fun.
Not necessarily the type of music I'd listen to all of the time, but the kinda stuff you need to play in the car, driving in the sunshine, loud with the windows down... (thats if you're not too ashamed to be listening to it!!!! )

As to whether there are any "better" tracks on the album... I guess thats down to personal taste, but I'd say that "In The Shadows" was the obvious choice for a single. Listen to/download snippets from the album here

I'll probably get shot for saying this, but there is definately a bit of 80's rock/Europe/Final Countdown feeling in a few of the quieter tracks!!!!

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

Depends how you define heavier side, being a big slayer and pantera fan i wouldn't call em heavy but compared to mcfly i spose i can see what you mean

Aye. I dont like the way they are trying to be goth/metal but sound like they should be stroking puppies.

If i hadnt seen them, who they are, then id probably quite like them cause the shadows track is ever so slightly catchy but after watching the video i cant bring myself to it anymore.

I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!

What makes you say that they "trying" to be something? They are what they are aren't they? Easy to listen to, commercial "rock" that has a catchy tune and raises your spirits when you listen!
I don't often listen to "commercial", radio 1, top 10 bands, but I have to admit I was pleasantly suprised by this. I've no idea what they are "trying" to be..... they'll probably never be as popular as people like Foo Fighters, or Feeder.... but I like them..... just as they are.

My policy is DON'T LOOK!!!! All the best bands have fairly unattractive lead singers, cos people like them because of their music and not what they look like! Meatloaf... Freddie Mercury.... Kurt Cobain?! The list is endless... need I say more?!

    Who wouldn't of done Kurt

Back to topic, first things first, if you like them you like them, stuff anyone else.

That said they don't do anything for me, I feel as if they are some sort of watered down metal for those who don't want the full fat, if that makes sense (not that I ever make sense).

I dont give 2 ****s if he's good looking or not, he just appears to come across as some kid who wants to be the "cool alternative goths" but cant quite get into it properly: It irratates me, but i cant fully understand why. Its like he's thought too much about it or something.

Im an ABSOLUTE hypercrit cause put me in a crowd of other metal fans and i stand out like a sore thumb
