    Dvd player

I currently have an Aiwa DVd player and, although it plays rented DVD's without a prob, haven't ever succesfully got it to play a video cd I have made (yes it is supposed to play them) and often have DVD probs with ones I write.

So looking at a new one

Does this look like a good player/Price ??

    http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG..._player__.html

I dont know loads about players, prefer to just play from the PC.

It says it supports lots of mpeg, and Avi, etc formats. Would it mean all I would have to do is write the .avi or whatever file to the disk and it would be able to play it ?? Or would I still have to create a video cd, or DVD video disk or whatever with the video files ???

The quality won't be as good as a simliar DVD/VCD player (like a Denon or Philips) but it'll probably be pritty good. And it plays DivX which is great for all your TS's *cough* I mean home movies.

You could try one of these -

    http://www.meridian-audio.com/p_596.htm

Mine plays VCDs/SVCDs as well as DVD-Rs very nicely

Serously though, you could try asking over at www.avforums.com - there's a whole forum there dedicated to DVD players (and many people who use this very player).

They're also a very friendly, helpful and informative bunch
