5.1 DVDs with no 5.1 speakers

    hi

I have some NTSC DVDs that appear to only have a 5.1 surround soundtrack. I have a Panasonic TX28PS1 28 inch wide screen TV but no surround sound speakers.

Therfore when the DVD is playing, it is difficult to hear all the sound channels. i.e. the voice channel is quite low compared to the music channel, and so I have to turn the TV volume all the way up.

Is there anyway of converting the sound to stereo, via hardware?

My DVD player has '3D' sound options, and setting it to 'Live' seems the best solution so far.

    Cheers

Your DVD player should have some options in the setup section for "downmixing" youll need to downmix to stereo and that will meld it all into 2 channel sound for you.
