My (very nearly) complete home cinema set up! 56k warning...
Seeing as quite a few of you helped me make choices in how to do all this, I thought you might like some pictures of the very nearly finished thing.
The system is: Samsung 32" wide flat jobby Cambridge Audio 540R AV Receiver Mordaunt Short 904 Fronts Mordaunt Short 905 Avant Centre TDL Nucleus 2 Rears Eltax Thunder 10 Subwoofer Pioneer DV565a DVD/DVD-A/SACD player. Also connected to my computer if I decide to play any MP3's/videos on that through the system. Anyways, here are the pics: 1. A Pic of the front, not very good quality but you get the idea. 2. Same idea, not a lot better of a picture though. 3. The rear speakers, behind my bed. I decided that the bed is by far the best place to watch movies from... how comfy??? VERY! 4. Another of the fronts, this time without the grilles, 'cause it looks funky. ![]() 5. And another, slightly more straight on. 6. The all important subwoofer. Doesn't look that big but the bed can be felt to vibrate strongly through a very soft mattress. ![]() Finally, the equipment powering it all. A PS2 and N64 are going on top when I can be bothered to move them upstairs and connect them up. The rack looks a hell of a lot dirtier in the photo than it does in real life, but it will probably get a clean. A bargain at about £40 from Ikea methinks. So there we have it. Thanks to anyone who has given me advice on any aspect of it! Future plans for it: add in a freeview box (widescreen broadcasts are the main reason for this), and perhaps a flatish rear centre, like the mission M7C1 from richer sounds. Other than that it is pretty much perfect for me, and does everything I want it to to a standard I want it to. |

Looks like an excellent system you have there!

Nice setup - I'm not so sure about your positioning though. You have a rad right behind your speakers also a solid wall - surely this gives you quite a few standing waves and reverb, maybe you could clean the sound up some more by putting some egg box material behind it. I would point your rears where your ears are, putting them towards each other might be good although adjust the levels down a little.
TV Boxes make good tables don't they (I used mine as a table for months before I finally got round to putting it into the garage).

But that's one of the only real differences he'll hear. Where do you sit? On the bed next to the rears? Yes I'd point them inward towards each other too. Lol.

OK, rears are moving inwards, 'cause thats free! Bass from fronts doesn't really matter too much, as most of it really comes from the sub.
As to costs... From skybuy £250+ del for the TV And from richer sounds: £250 for the receiver £150 for the DVD/DVD-A/SACD £150 for the fronts £120 for the centre £50 for the rears £80 for the sub And about £100 for all the cables and stands (speaker cable, interconnects, video cabling etc etc) from various places (richer sounds, www.leadsdirect.biz etc) And about £40ish for the rack from Ikea. |

Lol nice area Stoo
![]() I'll show you my system again here seeing as everyone else is ![]() My speakers don't produce much bass so it doesn't matter how close I have them to the wall ![]() ![]() You can see the big tall rear speakers just about in the reflection of the TV screen. Lol.
