    cover versions better than originals

been listening to a lot of music over the past few days for one reason or another & have inevitably heard a few covers

imho, there are some that are actually better than the originals, such as....

    Faith No More - Easy
    RHCP - Fire
    RHCP - Higher Ground
    Therapy? - isolation
Nirvana - man who sold the world

what are your thoughts? any covers you think are better than the originals....or any of those i've suggested you disagree with?

if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

limp bizkit - behind blue eyes

even tho the whos version is great, i think it sounds better, apart from the bit in the middle where he starts singing something dodgy and sounds a bit crap

Faith No More - Easy, without doubt the best version there is of this song

Not really a big RHCP fan, so I can't say I know those two. A few of my suggestions would be.

    Metallica - Turn The Page
    Nina Simone - Mr Bojangles
Guano Apes - Big In Japan

Agree with Petrefax, Faith No More - Easy is superb.

And Fleetwood Mac's version of Songbird I prefer to the original somehow... Mind you I dunno if Eva Cassidy's was the original? Someone care to inform me? Lol

that reminds me of another - fred durst & the guitarist from puddle of mudd doing led zeppelin's "thank you" on the MTV awards a few years ago (although they did have some help halfway through, in the form of mr jimmy page )

Man im sure I should be able to think of some, but I can't

It's more of a remix but I think the Sasha and Digweed version of Enjoy the Silence is better than the depeche mode one.

Agree with most of these, but smooth criminal is far better left to jacko himself imo

I think the only one that ain't been mentioned is Metallica - Whiskey in the jar

    Yes, I was joking

Jamie Cullum has done some very good covers, several of them for Radio 1's live lounge

out of interest, is there anywhere online where you can find out if a cover version of a song has been done?

E> http://www.coverinfo.de/main.php?page=lang - german, but looks like it could be quite good
