Surprisingly good Cheap DVD Player I'm not new when it comes to the world of crappy cheap DVD players. The phrase "you only get what you pay for" comes true with players especially those that play every format under the sun! I've tried Maxim, Cyberhome,Alba, Dansai and some other crappy makes, all returned due to out of synch with my DVD-R videos and the Maxim and Cyberhome ones even had the nerve to do it on original DVD movies and then breakdown shortly after! So for the living room I bought a Samsung DVD Player that plays every format for £79 (besides Mpeg4) and its very good, never goes out of synch or does anything rong, and so far touch wood for the year or so I've had it, the player still goes strong. It has digital Out too, but only stereo phono. So now I am in need of a player for my room that plays every format, i have xbox, but cannot find the kit anywhere atm so i decided i needed a player. I knew saving up is the best option, and so i began to save. However this week is work exp week, and whilst on lunch break I spotted 2 DVD Players in Blockbuster, the old crappy Dansai from before, and this mysterious new contender i had never heard or seen before. I looked and saw no reviews, and so tried Ebay and spotted it for a minimum bid of £20, unwanted present, with no bids. So call me crazy, today i went and bought it with my £40 (£37.99) and have hooked it up to my 15" Samsung TV/Vid Combi via scart. And well, what can i say, I've had a load of bad expereinces with cheap players, but this one simply pulls through. Knowing my luck it'll capsize in a few days of writing this lol, but as the player is at current, the picture quality is incredible, sound is lovely, with enough imputs to satisfy any speaker setup! Tech Details: Plays: ANY REGION DVD,DVD-R,DVD-RW, VCD, SVCD, KVCD, CD-R/RW, MP3, WMA, Jpeg, Kodak Picture and KJpeg CD. Video: 12bit Mpeg 2 Fullstream Hardware Accelerated Decoder Audio 24bit/96khz Hardware Processor supporting 6.1 Dolby Digital Connectors: DTS Digi Out, 6 Phonos, A/V, Scart. Extras: All normal features, FF 32x, RW 32x, Zoom X 4, Subtitles, REGION FREE!, Search, 30 Bookmarks, Clock, Screensaver etc. In the box: >Dvd Player >Scart Cable, A/V Cables >Full Remote Control with 2xAAA Batteries >Instruction Manual with 1 year no quibble warranty The name of this Player is the Clairlone DVD 8133 Never heard of em b4 but now ive got this player I'm very impressed, side by side, the picture quality is just as clear as my Samsung player, and that's a lot considering ive tried all bloody players under the sun to find a synch player! Anyways i can totally recommend this mysterious new: Clairlone DVD 8133. If u see it, and need a decent, Bang for your buck DVD player, look no further, buy it asap! It's only fault is it doesn't have EZ View like samsung players lol, at at this time i don't have a widescreen tv! But i shall get a 32" one soon

Cool. An AVI player must be good ![]() So if u slap a downloaded trailer onto one of those and its a larger resolution, does the player resize it to fit the tv or what?

Strange that you have problems with Cyberhome, I used one for a while now, and plays everything fine. "Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."

Got a cheap Yamada from Ebuyer in the front room, and a £27.99p Akura from Somerfields. Both play absolutely everything out of the box (apart from DivX, but the next one i buy will!) apart from the Akura jobbie won't play mpegs...
