| widescreen crt or plasm im in the market for a new screen my old 28 inch toshiba which i bought 2nd hand is now starting to die. i can see thin black horizontal lines most of the time. so ive narrowed the choice down to a 32 leowe mimo for the crt which is a £1000, but ive also been looking at the lg plasma at richers which was just under £2000. i really like the idea of the thin plasma screen and the space saved. but is the picture quality on the cheap plasma be worse than the crt screen |

Richer Sounds are usually very happy to demo equipment and you may well find that the image quality is satisfactory for your needs. |

| Nothing beats a CRT in terms of quality. And the quality of plasmas, especially the cheaper ones, is lacking Home cinema: Toshiba 42XV555DB Full HD LCD | Onkyo TX-SR705 | NAD C352 | Monitor Audio Bronze B2 | Monitor Audio Bronze C | Monitor Audio Bronze BFX | Yamaha NSC120 | BK Monolith sub | Toshiba HD-EP35 HD-DVD | Samsung BD-P1400 BluRay Player | Pioneer DV-575 | Squeezebox3 | Virgin Media V+ Box PC: Asus P5B | Core2duo 2.13GHz | 2GB DDR2 PC6400 | Inno3d iChill 7900GS | Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1 | 250GB | 500GB | NEC DVDRW | Dual AG Neovo 19" HTPC: | Core2Duo E6420 2.13GHz | 2GB DDR2 | 250GBx2 | Radeon X1300 | Terratec Aureon 7.1 | Windows MCE 2005 Laptop: 1.5GHz Centrino | 512MB | 60GB | 15" Wide TFT | Wifi | DVDRW |

| I would love a plasma for the convenience but judging from the number of people who have spent £3500+ on one and have had problems Im gonna skip it. The biggest problem is some form of screen burn that results from static images, think is they dont need to be static for that long before thay can cause problems. A lot of people recommend changing channels during add breaks to avoid burn, apparently the digital kids channel is the worst culprit cbb's or whatever its called. If I had £2k to spend would probably get a loewe and a front projector. Last edited by Flibb; 18-06-2004 at 12:13 PM.. |

| After working in dixons for a week, i think the plasma screens look amazing ![]() With finding nemo, at least... ![]() Not cheap tho, the best looking of the 4 i saw on displayed and cleaned , was the Techwood 42" Plasma with Virtual Dolby speakers included and a tuner... £1799 is a bit much for a tv tho imo |

![]() If you're fussy, then you can't beat a CRT. Unless you go for a decent projector, of course, but they're less practical. |
