we had a thread similar to this not too long ago although i did kind of hi-jack it by blabbering on about subs though

    i've now got :-

Sony 29" FD Triniton WEGA TV (KV29LS30S)
    Toshiba SD330E Multi-region DVD Player
    Marantz SR 6300 DD-EX / DTS-ES / DPL2 6.1 Amplifier
6 x Mission m74i Speakers wired with QED Silver Anniversary Speaker Cable
    BK Electronics XLS 200 Subwoofer

i'm quite into my home entertainment system, though i've only got a reasonably modest set-up. a big screen picture is the next upgrade, ideally i want a projector, a Sony VPL-HS10 or a second hand CRT prehaps, but i don't really have the room at the moment especially as ceiling mouning isn't an option.

    Student of 16:

Old (9 years?) but still amazing picture quality 24" Panasonic TV. RGB SCART, SVHS, etc.
    Toshiba SD220E DVD Player
    Sherwood RD6118R Dolby Digital/DTS Receiver
    Monitor Audio Bronze B2 front
    Yamaha NSC120 Centre
    JPW Radius Rears
    DIY 12" subwoofer
    Akai VCR
OneForAll Mosaic touch screen remote control

A modest system compared to the high end stuff, but imo a far more pleasant viewing experience than visiting the cinema nowadays. The sound that I can produce in my room is pretty fantastic.

And yes I'd class myself as a far from just casual viewer/listener

    Home cinema: Toshiba 42XV555DB Full HD LCD | Onkyo TX-SR705 | NAD C352 | Monitor Audio Bronze B2 | Monitor Audio Bronze C | Monitor Audio Bronze BFX | Yamaha NSC120 | BK Monolith sub | Toshiba HD-EP35 HD-DVD | Samsung BD-P1400 BluRay Player | Pioneer DV-575 | Squeezebox3 | Virgin Media V+ Box

    LOL!
    Same here.

At home - AIWA 4 year old system, nice speakers and has optical input which is alright.
However at uni im down to using, 17" TFT, 5.1 DTT2200s and a PC with hardware playback. No TV, dont listen to the radio and no hifi.

Parents have a 28" Goodmans TV with some bundled dolby setup and Ronin £50 DVD player which is actually very good considering.

I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!

    A-XP 2400 (@2200Mhz).
Nforce2 (soon to be, digi outputs)
(soon to beCreative Inspire 5500Digi. Not the best, but not the worst either!
HollyWood DVD card, when I take a walk down agents (and hand over some cash)
    19" CTX EX960 Series.

More into being able to sit in one spot and do it all!

Its (/will be) quite a good setup. The major things letting me down at the mo is the quality of DVD playback (pretty pants w/o dedicated MPEG hardware), and the bass bleed on my inspire 5100s. Im getting more into my audio-visual at the mo.

Inspire 5.1 digital 5700 speakers and amp which hooks up to sony flatscreen 15" TV, audigy 2 sound card, hollywood dvd card and iPod
Watch DVD's using hollywood card and remote on my Samsung 17" Syncmaster 171P or output to the tv if I'm using the comp.
All my music's in mp3 (got 14.8GB worth) so I play them on the comp or iPod if the comp isn't on

I'm more of a casual viewer when it comes to films as I only really watch em when the g/f is round and we rent a film, I've only got bout 10-15 DVD's. I'm a bit of an audiophile though as I listen to music non stop and couldn't live without it

lol ok I admit that may have been an exageration, I do sleep occasionally and don't have music on if I have a headache or hangover
