infinite gear syndrome
I caught the last 20 minutes or so of Driven last night, with the big race on at the end, and couldn't help noticing how many gear changes there were. No matter where abouts on the track, they were able to drop a gear and speed off past the car in front. There even seemed to be a point where two cars are neck and neck, going apparently flat out on the home straight, then drop a gear and speed off, only for the other car to follow suit!
This whole situation reminded me of the chase in Terminator 2 with John Connor on the scrambler and 'not mulder' in the HGV. That scrambler never seemed to run out of gears! So has anyone else noticed vehicles that have infinite gears in movies? |

yup, Days of Thunder is reeeeeeally annoying for that.
*shot outside car of Tom Cruise stuck behind someone* Tom Cruise: Damn, how am i going to get past? [Tom Cruise looks down] Tom Cruise: Ah yes! My Infinite Gear Box! *changes gear going past each car and gets an instant speed boost* (Bearing in mind he was, in theory doing 200mph whilst behind the first car he must be nigh on the bloody sound barrier by the time hes finished the race) [Robert Duval over the pit radio] Damn you Cruise, you cant change gear! It'll wreck my engine! *shakes fist in comedy cockney manner* Last edited by Spunkey; 16-07-2004 at 02:08 PM. |

And every car is rear wheel drive allowing in to shed rubber spin marks all up the road - when in reality - beleive it or not, some cars are front wheel drive and dont do it that well
