    Films that got to you...

Right, which films have you seen that really got to you? I mean, which films have you seen that affected you, made you think about, well, everything?

I don't want cocky answers like like "The Matrix- Keanu can't act" etc, but which films really made you look at things differently, made you feel sad/happy/uplifted

For me, most recently it has got to be: The Breakfast Club and Dead Poets Society

    The Caped Crusader :-)

'Powder' springs straight to mind. Really made you think about how it feels to be isolated from society for being different. Much the same as 'A Beatiful Mind' did.

And of course Castaway The idea that this is based on fact is truly remarkable.

Mind you, I tend to go for the more 'thoughtful' films anyway.

Shawshank and to a lesser extent The Green Mile. Another right off the top of my head, American History X.

Scum was a bit of an eye opener, but gotta agree that Saving Private Ryan and In The Name Of The Father kinda hit home too

Probally saving private ryan as above, made me realise how much we owe to the men that fought and died in ww2. La Vita E Bella, was only young when i saw this and didn't see much of it, but made me realise that all our problems are nothing compared to what some people have had to go through.

Well, lots of films have moved me deeply but not so many really make me sit back and think about things. One that did was Schindler's List.

I agree with Howard, films like American Beauty make me sit back and think about life. I like films that do that.

    A Short Film About Killing.

Also, as odd as it sounds, the footage floating about the net of the Black Prince's first run at the Paris Peripherique always moves me. It's filmed on an early 90's camcorder, on a dull, overcast, depressing day, and here's a guy commiting the ultimate act of heroic stupidity on the last of the great 'huge power, evil handling' bikes, a GSXR-1100. The knowledge that he died on his next attempt just makes it compulsive viewing for me.
