    Question Cheap DV camera's

You see these cheap digital video cameras about for like £60-£100. I've often toyed with getting one to take little snippets of the kids on holl etc. Are they any good? or just plain old rubbish.....

Mini-dv digital camcorders are good, you can get them for 200-300 pounds, make sure to get one with a line in and line out, for recording, line out, lets you take your footage straight offthe camera with the mini dv tape in it and copy it to ure pc's hdd, line in lets you edit it back on youer pc, them send it back to the camcorder, write on it again, rather than just using two tapes and recording > transferring > then repeat, the Sony dcr range are cheap and very well built, aslo mini dv tapes are small, not that costly and will be around for a long time, and easily stored due to their size.

    hope this helps

The ones that record on CompactFlash cards are pretty rubbish in my experience, the picture quality is poor and they don't have a zoom lens. Since you can get a proper Mini DV tape camera for £200 now it's well worth spending a bit more and getting one of them.
