look at the apple store, you can get gold plates audio cables and it will plug into the majority of stero's and hi-fi's out there.

    The cable you want is:

    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObje...ioW/2.3.0.6.10

Will plug laptops, tv's and ipods to stero's

the sound quality is as good as your speakers at the end of the day all depends on the quality of the MP3's ACC's etc etc you are using

    You're got two choices really:
    1. Plug them into a pair of PC speakers. PC speakers come with a 3.5mm plug which will go directly into your iPod's headphone socket
    2. Plug the iPod into an amp, using the cables GreyM@a mentioned, and then run a pair of speakers off the amp.

The quality will OK, but you'll obviously be limited by the quality of the mp3s you listen to. The second option will sound better but will generally cost more money.

alternatively, something like the rio karma offers proper stereo RCA jacks on the dock, for connection to a hi-fi.
