    SCART problems

    blummin Philips TV

Have sung its praises for 2 years...and now its messing Sair about.

The SCSRT inputs are "infected" with other sounds.

SCART 1 has the TV in the back ground and high pitched clicking/whirring noise

SCART 2 has the high pitched clicking (not white noise) and if you go REALLY LOUD you can hear the TV channel too.

Have set the TV to a channel with nothing programed but the clicking is there.

Have had to put the DVD through S Video and two phono's, which is a shame cos now the PS2 is unplugged

    For the record I have:

Take ALL inputs out of the telly....no scarts and no aerial. Once I did that the TV background infection is gone (obviously Zakky, it aint got a tv channel to play) but still got noise on AV1 and 2 (louder on 1)

    Any ideas guys?

First Philips telly I have had. Loved it for two years....superb Pro Logic effects from 2 speakers, and a good bass speaker in it, but its no good anymore

Shall I take the SCART panel off and see if I have loose cabling?

Does it do it with nothing plugged into the SCART sockets?
Perhaps you have some sort of mains device nearby that's creating feedback?

Wouldn't explain the leakage of the analogue TV sound though

if the scarts are al unplugged and so is all the kit near it (DVD, VID, SET TOP BOX, PS2) it still makes the noises.

and the leakage is doing my head in

If you unplug the aerial the leakage of tv sound goes (no kidding) on both, but the back ground noise is still very loud.

Its enough to ruin a DVD film in al but the loudest bits.

Its only done it for about 2 months, but is getting worse!

Is this a "circuit" I'm dealing with?Do SCART leads go into a PCB with a cpu of somesort?

Scart leads will have some sort of PCB mount which will be attached to the main TV circuit most likely. Unless there is a dry joint then you might hvae limited success fixing it
