| Nothings looks more dumb, l4meR and just plain 'noob' on a forum, than the guy who posts some unlikely-to-be-answered question and then starts whining 2 days later when there has not been a torrent of answers. A guy did it in a thread on here about using non-recommended RAM in a Shuttle. He called everyone 'loosers' (good spelling, huh?) after about 3 days. He got some abuse but no help. |

| Let me just add to that. Contrex, if you've got nothing useful to post don't post at all. Let's get this post back on track. Platinum, whilst we're happy to discuss and help out here if you want the experts in this area have a look on http://www.avforums.com, someone there will probably give you some feedback on that specific range or you could search their forums for it. I searched so if they haven't cleared my search yet the results should be here http://www.avforums.com/forums/searc...archid=1047422 |

| Sublime HEXUS.net | While I've not seen much on that specific model, the Sony LCD TV's do seem to be of a better quality than most, but in general the quality of LCD TV's isn't that high. This is mostly because they're running at non PAL resolutions and then scaling the picture up to fill the screen, you get a similar effect on most pc's with a tft screen if you run a standard sized video file full screen, meaning you end up with an ugly blocky mess if you've got a particularly large screen. If you can pop into somewhere that has them on sale and have a good look at them up close you should be able to check the visual quality for yourself (See, there is a use for Dixons et al after all ) Originally Posted by silent ben

| lcd tv's have very bad speakers because they are flat. i have tested many of them all different makes, including sonys and sharps, as long as you have a separate speaker system, then the tv is good. You may disagree with me, so please do, because if i am wrong, i would like to be corrected. hehe, *all confidence gone* |

| Sublime HEXUS.net | Yup, the built in speakers are usually awful, that's why the high end ones don't usually have them at all (you plug them in to your nice home cinema hi-fi ), but if all you want is a nice small one for your kitchen or something, then the built in ones are usually good enough to be heard over the rumble of the washing machine etc.. | You should probably check this Philips out. I have the 17" version and the picture is superb even when using those cheapy scart leads that sky provide with their digiboxes. These particular models are also HDTV ready apparently and have viewing angles of 176 degrees, and i can vouch for them viewing angles. Though a lot of places will probably quote it as 170. Don’t be put off by the seemingly lowish contrast ratio of 450:1. Philips has technologies built into these screens which enhance that 450 even further so your images are crisp and black really is black. The 23" version has a DVI port as well as PixelPlus. Im guessing this is needed since it has the same amount of pixels as the 17" model so to get a similar quality picture they stick pixel plus on there. Im not to sure how this works. I had my 17" version for £420 when their usually around the 600 quid mark iirc. You can probably get similar deals with the 23" version just search of it on kelkoo.co.uk or pricewatch.co.uk. This LCD really is superb i cant speak highly enough of it, im landed with mine. Id imagine the 23" version would be of a similar quality. But check in places like comet.
