I wanna know what kicks the most anal with regards to bass, clarity, and down right performance... For £40? Also I have a 3.5mm mini jack - so i could get a converter... but it straight off would be a bonus!

I thought it would be a case of ANY 5.1 headphones for £40?

www.play.com, search for 'medusa', these are the only ones i know of for that price, and feedback has me convinced they are worth the measly £40. Good price, i'd honestly expect to pay 3x as much if these were not around

Now with the Medusas it has a small amp... On it they have 'Front - Middle - Back' IN - and 'Front - Middle - Back' OUT - But neither my soundcard nor speakers have this out... will putting a single line into the amp, with the 5.1 software settings on the card still give me 5.1?

I hope that was marginaly coherent...

If you mean one lead (say from 'front' to your sound card) then no.

If your motherboard does not advertise 5.1, and your soundcard does not advertise 5.1 features, then 5.1 headphones arent going to do anything for you

If your motherboard or soundcard does say 5.1, then you'll likely have 3x 3.5mm jacks round the back, 1 for headphones, 1 for line out/in, one for mic. And those are what you use for 5.1, since each port has 2 channels, 2x3 = 6 = 5 .(+) 1. And thats what those 3 jacks are about.

That has been very useful... Merci... Upon further inspection I have found indeed it has 1, 2, and 3, next to 3 of the rear 3.5 jacks. Which leads me onto my next question... If I have both the speakers (digital out), and the headphones (off of the analogue), then will speakers play when I don't have the headphones plugged in/turned on... and vica versa?

I can't comment on any others as I haven't tried them but I can say that I've been very pleased with my Zalman 5.1 headphones. The sound quality and bass response is extremely good.

/\ what he said. So far I've been very lucky. Got some for me and some for someone else.

I think they must have improved their quality by now

Please explain... when you mean not working - is that the 5.1 capabilities or the headset as a whole?

The best price for the medusa including delivery is Special reserve http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG...k_medusa_.html

You will love them if you get a good pair but if you get a bad one and there is a good chance of it. It will cost you a fortune in return costs. Especially if it happens more than once.
