| I'm unsure of the legal issues with region-unlocking dvd players (if my thread gets locked or deleted, I'll assume its a topic I shouldn't ask about ).Otherwise, I have a SCHT520 panasonic home cinema system.. which has played region 1 DVDs before; but I have recently bought the Dark Angel series from the US & it refuses to play it ("NO PLAY").. strange. Does anybody know how to mod this system/of a site that describes modding it? - can't seem to find any simple remote codes unfortunately We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices? |

| From forum RE: Help multi region Panasonic SCHT520 Submitted by kal on 08/11/2004 13:48:49 you cant hack the panasonic systems. they have to be chipped. this is what i have been told from doing research into it for the last month. richer sounds is the only place that sell them multiregion. there may be a hack in the future but for a £199 system they are aimed to beat eveything on the bdget market and they assume they sell mostly at currys and stores like that where the consumer does not get other region dvd’s etc.. hope that makes sence. |

| Does it still play region 2 discs OK? Reason I ask is that I had a Panasonic system that got the same error message. It was a different system to yours (earlier model) but the "no play" message turned out to be the laser head failing in the DVD drive. After much searching around and talking to dealers I discovered that the early panasonics were known for the laser heads failing. The only solution was to have the DVD unit replaced which was over £200 at a shop/dealer so I got rid instaed. Just thinking it might be better for you to check it out a bit more before you spend money on a chip. | Try here - http://www.dvdchips.co.uk/ they've got some clever solution so you don't even have to open your player and it's very reasonable at £20 + shipping but I have no idea if it works. Good place for DVD hacks is http://www.videohelp.com |

| I was thinking that; but I don't have any DL media atm - so I'd have to cut the quality. Hmm, may go check the prices of DL discs, see if they've gone down We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices? |

| Just re-author them, there must be more than one episode per disc? Split em up and maintain the quality .It's perfectly legal to modify a DVD player that you own in any way you like. Well, it is in the UK anyway. www.no2id.net www.saynoto0870.com www.housepricecrash.co.uk Now these points of data make a beautiful line, and we're out of beta we're releasing on time.... |

| yeah but there's 6 discs :| .. I'm too lazy to split them all up, and burn so many dvds ![]() hopefully I'll find somewhere that describes modding it yourself.. otherwise I'll just watch them on my PC :/
I have what I thought was a R1 disc, but seen as Dark Angel won't play - it may not be We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices? |
