    I thought 4 was the bad number? Hence WinAmp 1, 2, 3, 5 ?

winamp 5 = part winamp 2 + part winamp 3 = winamp 5, thought that was the reason for no winamp 4.

Yes, 4 is the bad number and 3 is a very good one.

Audigy 3 was skipped for 2 rumoured reasons:

    - some already rank the Audigy 2 ZS platinum pro as Audigy 3 standards

    - Audigy 3 was planned for PCI-Express, but design on this kept on getting delayed.

If they made a PCI express sound card, wheres the graphics card gonna go ? Surely a sound card doesnt need more than PCI Bandwidth?

Hmm, PCI-E comes in many configurations, PCI-E x1 all the way to x32... gfx card utilise x16 at this time and x16 + x8 in SLi configuration.

Traditionally number 4 is associated with death and this Audigy 4 Pro marks the death of the Audigy line as it is in the PCI version. Creative Labs next soundcard will be PCI-E and may have a different name... or so the rumour mongers will have you believe.

If you want a decent review of the Audigy 4 Pro then go to www.3dsoundsurge.com and expect a review by theinquirer.net soon(ish).
