New Sony widescreen with built-in freeview : how to get paid for top-up channels? My new sony has a built in digital tuner, but no card slot. Any way of geting the paid for channels, like E4 without buying a digital box? Silly me, thought it would have come with one. The freeview website is very vague.

I dont know the answer to ur question but if its E4 ur interested in then you may want to wait. I read today that E4/+1 was comming to freeview with no top up card required.

TUTV requires a viewing card so if your telly doesn't have a CI slot then you can't get TUTV, so your only option (if you want TUTV) is to buy a seperate digibox which has a CI slot. Official list of boxes that do have the appropriate slot is here - http://www.topup.tv/equipment_stb.htm .. although that might not be quite up-to-date

| Found out now I need a £40 'CAM' that plugs into the back for the pay channels. Not going to bother though now. Not worth the cost, might as well get Sky for a few extra quid but I don't watch enough telly to justify it. Anyway, as requested this is the one I have, nothing too fancy but it's very good and I am well chuffed with it... | nice, I like the black frame. always makes for better contrast imo. I was until recently viewing on a Sony 32" KV 100Hz WEGA..... which amazingly cost exactly the same 5 years ago, as my 50" rear projection Grand WEGA I am currently on. Super monkey ball at 50" is a whole new game. £400 is a good price for that set you've got. 5 years ago my 32" was 1550 or something like that and a few weeks ago my RP set was 1500 + the glass stand (which was uber rip off at 350 squid, but had to be done). |

Yeah, I really don't like masses of silver plastic. Looks 'cheap' to me. Black all the way. Looks nice with my Mission 701's next to it and my Cambridge Audio 640a AMP and Panasonic DVD on the shelves

i think I may have been misunderstood. I like my silver and glass look.. I just believe a black frame around a tv set gives a nicer contrast... B&O have been doing it for years.. all the rest caught on after toshiba did the picture fram tv's.
