Can I run two Sound cards?

I have an on-board sound card that is currently disabled and I have an Audigy sound card fitted.

The problem I have is that I use my PC as an HCPC and in that case I feed the s/pdif output to my Home Cinema receiver.

I also like to listen on headphones when my wife is sleeping but at the moment I have to keep changing the settings to swap between digital output and headphone output.

Could I re-enable the onboard sound and use that for the headphones?

    Thanks

    Dave

you can have 2 soundcards, but i dont think they will both output at the same time. i may be wrong. try it!

can the audigy not do digital out AND headphone out? then just turn off the amp?

    Yes you can

Simply swap between the cards in the Audio Properties in the control panel applet - Sounds and audio Devices when needed.

I do the same with my Logitech USB 20 headset that installs itself as its "own soundcard" and the digital audio on my Asus A8N motherboard without any adverse effects or problems.

Yup, it works. I use a Djing program and use the onboard soundcard for monitoring, and my proper sound card for the audience output.
