| HDTV - 1080p - What PC? Just wondering what kind of beast of a PC you need to run this type of video smoothly. My PC can hardly handle 720p and just curls up and dies on 1080p. HEXUS|iMc |

| Well (going by your sig) the 6800 series cards have broken HDTV video acceleration. It's a known bug (and unfixable  ).My AXP@2300MHz + 9700 copes with 720p with no probs at all (less than 30% CPU utilisation). | My XP2400+ with 6800Ultra plays 1080p OK with occasional brief pauses, BUT the sound goes off & on (for long periods.) I assumed it was low CPU power, but I'm wondering if the 6800U bug is involved now. 720P playback is OK. My A64 3500+ with 2x6600GT plays 1080p just fine. Presumably SLI isn't used for HD video playback?, so one 6600GT should be OK on its own. DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-D; AMD64 3500+ Winchester ; 2x XFX 6600GT ; Corsair XMS3200XLPRO TWINX 1GB; Dell 2405FPW TFT. |
