    Decent ear phones

Whats the best value for money stuff out there? Currently got some sony ones that sit on your ear like normal headphones but go a bit down the cannal. Work fairly well but would like something better

Not got a firm budget but something like these could be within reach: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...995872-1246852

I see there are ER-6 earphones and ER-6i earphones. They're different colours but is that it?

Will be used with a Sony HD1 and pc currently with soundblaster live 5.1

    Thanks
    Ben

Didn't like the idea that reviews said they had to go over the ear. As in the way the cord has to go over and behind.

Plus they're a bit more expensive. I'm going to find anything an upgrade to what i have, just want to make sure i get whats right for me

I can vouch for the fact that the E2cs are fantastic though. Does that help?

Looks like i is for iPod, as in coloured white.

I have the ER-4Ps and it is just spooky listening to crystal clear sound with the volume low while on a bus or train, and just a hint of background sound coming through. Worth every penny I paid for them (about the same as Amazon are now charging.)

The ER-6s (or E2cs) aren't quite so good at isolating sound, but might be a bit more comfortable than the ER4s when you start using them.

Caged, didn't realise the e2c sures are actually the same sort of price. Will look at them but i dont like the idea of the over ear wires. from having a bluetooth headset i know what it feels like having something over the back of your ear and i find it really uncomfortable

I thought the ER-6i were white but there must be more differences as they're £10 more expensive :S

    Check ebay for prices.

The RRP for Shure e2c is £77 and the cheapest I could find with online retailers was £70 + P&P. Ebay came to the rescue and I managed to get a pair for £44 inc. P&P and insurance. Quite a saving!

Never bought anything off ebay before, i saw the prices on there and its a real big saving. Only reason i've never used ebay is because theres pbvisouly a small risk you'll lose you're money

Still waiting for natwest to send me my new solo card so i cant buy anything until i get that

if you want earphones (in-ear) Then my reccomendation would be the sony fx71s. the buds are so well designed that they cut out about 90% of noise imo, and they're a lot cheaper than those ones..

if you dont need portable ones, dont get em. for that money you could get a set of grado sr-60s (or maybe sr-80s), which will outperform any in-ear design. in fact, for that money you could almost get a pair of sr60s for home, and a pair of sony fx71s for the road..

try the phones in a hifi shop. i *promise* you that the grado's will *BLOW* you away.

I used to have a pair of fx71s but I never really saw why people were raving about them. They were a very comfy fit and they looked good, but the audio quality didn't really blow me away. My £16 Koss in-ear ones sounded superior.

The Shure e2cs are ion a totally different league to the Sony fx71s and are "only" £10-20 more expensive. I'm glad that I made the step up, even if I only did so because my fx71s broke.

I do want them for use maily with my HD1 and K750i when i get an adapter for 3.5mm jacks.

How similar are the e2cs to the ER-6s?

I doubt anything beats EX-71s for value.

Not the best quality sound, not the best quality build, but i've had the EX-70s for 5 years now and they are still going.

Isolating earphones can be quite headache-inducing at times, must be the pressure in my ears.
