    DVD Recorder

Am interested in buying a DVD Recorder for the home theatre as the £30 asda player is a bag of...... yeah.

Anyway, was wondering, is it possible to get a dvd recorder that will be able to play not only PAL DVD's but also NTSC? If so where should I look? Which models, etc.

    Current setup: Sanyo EM-S1055 800W | Cannon 'Chester' 4Hob | Zanussi FrostFree | Phillips HD4666 3000W | Swan ST1020 2Slice.

    Ah right, thanks.

Just wasn't sure if it'd work if i got aload of NTSC films only to find they won't work... so most DVD players play both?

Yeah its mainly the TV that is the issue with PAL/NTSC problems. As long as your TV supports both and you use a scart connection you should have no problems

look at http://www.dvdplayers.co.uk and make sure it is a MR ( multiregion ) model to allow replay of region coded i.e. non-region2 disks.

i havent come across a dvd player to this day that cannot be unlocked to multiregion with a simple keypress hacking code. you shouldnt need to worry about it being MR out of the box as most can be unlocked anyway.

I would check out richersounds.co.uk they stock a large range of multi region dvd recorders. Considering you want a good quality, but not amazingly expensive one I would suggest the Panasonic DMRES10 Multi-Region for £179.99 is what you want http://ws4.richersounds.com/showprod...d=PANA-DMRES10

I bought a Philips DVDR70 over a year ago (<£150). Had no problems once I'd upgraded the firmware and borrowed an 1 for all remote to perform the multiregion hack.

Panasonic dvd recorders have a good reputation - they were too exensive when I bought mine. Cheapest Panasonic I could find at Richer sounds (mentioned above) was £150 + delivery (not multiregion though).
Panasonic DMRE55 Silver (DVD Recorder - last few to clear)

If you have a mini DV camcorder look for one with i-link (firewire input).

Think about getting one with digital (freeview) tuner(s) rather than 'old' analogue. They are appearing on the market now.

I have a DVDR70, do you find you don't get an RGB signal unless the DVDR70 is turned on? In Standby, Sky+ and PS2 look noticeably worse than when the Philips is on
