7.1 Speakers And 5.1 Headphone Splitter

Hi guys, i currently own a pair of 5.1 surround headphones and some 7.1 surround speakers.

Both of these have 3 audio jacks to go to my sound card(front back and sub/). Now rather than continually swapping them around at the back of my pc i was wondering if there was a splitter/hub available for me to plug my 5.1 headphones into, and my 7.1 speakers, and only have 3 wires coming out the back into my soundcard. Then via a switch, differentiate between the two.

    Anywhere have this kinda thing?

    Thanks for your help

    Fraggie

The Medusa 5.1 headset has a separate amp which you plug into the PC, then you plug the 'phones into the front of that. The amp has a 5.1 output on the back.. dunno if that'd be what you wanted or not?

no u dont understand, ive got the medusa's and ive got 3 3.5mm jacks coming out the back of it to go to my soundcard , from my 7.1 speakers ive also got 3 3.5mm jacks to go to my soundcard. My soundcard however has only 3 holes and i have 6 wires

i need something which i can put all 6 wires into and get 3 out where i can split the sigal between the 2 sets of 3

yeah.. there's an output and an input on the back of the amp...

    see?

in from your card on the left, out to your speakers on the right
Then all you'd have to do is push the power button on yer speakers....

unfortunatly the side speakers are integrated into the 3 normal jacks (front back and sub) not sure which, so theres no way i can plug them in seperately. From what i gather the sound card must send an extra signal which the speakers recognise and translates into 7.1 sound. However because ive got the 5. amp plugged in it seems to be surpressing the extra two speakers therefore i only get 5.1 sound :s

unfortunatly ive not found it yet it looks like i may have to try 3, 2way splitters for each channel , lack of money prevents this yet tho

    Fraggie,

Are the 7.1 jacks 4 pole for the extra channels? If so standard stereo splitters will not do the job as the two sets of plugs are different.
