Suppliers to screw over online shops ?

My Dad heard a report on the radio this week that suppliers starting with Sony (big suprise !) are gonna start charging online stores over odds for stock of televisions etc as they are undercutting the high street stores by so much , starting in the run up to chrismas. Anyone know if there is any truth to this ? Cant remember what station the piece was on . If it is true are they allowed to do this does there not have to be one price to all stores ?

Manufacturers are looking at giving additional discounts to retailers that can demonstrate the stock thy sell. Personnally I dont have a problem with it as I prefer to actually use something before buying it, many people just read online or magazine reviews and base their purchasing decision on that, I prefer to make my own mind up.

Might happen in the US, but i would be surprised if the EU steps in if this became common practise, they did ban RRP afterall.

Having said that, i don't really have a problem with it. The highstreet is strugling after all, and yeah i do prefer to see things in the flesh, especially AV equipment.
