Freeview boxes and portable TV aerials

Anyone had any luck using a Freeview digital boxes with a portable aerial?

I want one for the bedroom, but don't have access to the main roof aerial. Reception here is average to good.

I have heard portable aerials made for digital TV, but cant find any.

I have had success in a decent service aereal with the above. Worked ok. Generally I've found as long as you have a decent terrestrial signal then you'll get a decent digital signal

At the mo my reception is crap and even a power aerial won't work

    Sky it is then

    Check my project <<| Black3D |>>

Argos sell several indoor aerials that are ment to work with digital, and they offer a money back guarantee (think its still available) so if it doesen work you can return for a refund.

If you have problems picking freeview up using a roof/ loft mounted aerial its worth checking that the aerial is correctly set up (different transmitters require vertical or horizontal setup), its also worth fitting digital satelite standard cable between the aerial and decoder as it has better screening. Last thing to try is fitting a high gain aerial with a mast head amplifier, Televes Dat 75 is ment to be good especially when you power the onboard amplifier and balance it with the MRD (some form of balun).

For some reason my dad used to get a rubbish signal in his old flat, I got his digibox working with a coathanger for an aerial. In the end though he just bought a better box which had a more sensitive tuner.

I get an excellent signal with the one for all flat indoor aerial. Occationally I get a little interference but I get all the channels where I can not get any with the outdoor aerial. I have it hung from the curtain rail. I do sometimes have to move it right or left to improve the signal but that is quite rare.

To see details see an unnamed Audiovisual site that is Online and may be linked to below.

Not sure about Freeview, but at my parents's house I used to be able to pick up a perfectly acceptable analogue signal without an aerial at all...

They do have a clear line of sight to Emley Moor mast, about 10 miles away... (this isn't their view)
