Question How do I put my audio books onto CD - they are too big!!

Hi, I have an audio book I downloaded a while ago, I want to put it onto cd - easy I thought! - its in mp3 format and I want it on a normal cd to play on my Hi-Fi stereo.

I have nero so tried this at first but it is way too big! the books data is divided into 3 chunks, each of which when i try to burn onto a cd are far too long....

I know it must be possible as when I tried to buy the audio book in a store it was only 6 cds, but Nero is telling me it will be more like 12 or more!

How can I fit it onto 6 cds - or less? Can I reduce the bitrate or somthing??

    Thanks for your time.

You need to burn it to an MP3 CD, a normal CD is 16-bit 44.1 KHz PCM (uncompressed .wav). I may be planning on decompressing them for you. Hope thats your problem. If not I have suggestions.

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm afraid an MP3 CD would be no good, it's an old stereo therefore does not support it.
As I said I'm certain it should be possible to get them onto 6 cd's (as I said u can buy the audio book on 6 cds). And I've heard of getting many hours on 1 cd without it being MP3 or whatever....

I've trawled the internet all night but still can't find an answer... any help would be great!

The max amount of time on a normal cd is around about 70 mins upto about 80 mins with overburning certainly not hours per cd.

yeah it's strange, I don't understand it my self. The book is 'Angels and Demons' and on my pc it is split into 3, 6 hour chunks!!! Yet if I go to buy it it is stated that it is only 6 cds that total 7 hours.... I just dont get it....

    Does anyone out there??

CDs can technically be up to 99minutes long. In fact you used to get 120minute CDs a while back, although very very few drives could be persuaded to go that high, it is after all breaking the CD/CD-R spec when doing this.

    damn & blast!

Have found out I have the 'unabridged' version, this means its twice as long as the normal audio book!

This means I'll have to split it onto 15cds!!

    So next question

Anyone know a good, free, wav splitter that will cut my wav files into equal chunks?

    Cheers,

Just like the other three Dan Brown books

poindextermatic: do you have Nero? The Reloaded suite comes with Nero Wave Editor which will do everything you need.
