    SKY + Modding

Has anyone here modded their SKY+ box with a larger capacity hard drive, and if so is it pretty straightforward.....?

Yeah... well it was until last thursday when Sky 'upgraded' their software on my box and killed it dead... I had to wait until friday afternoon for them to rollback to the previous version. The reason? Well, apparently even tho Sky know well people swap drives, they didn't bother testing their software against such a machine. "no our fault sir" etc etc

Anyway... just make sure you buy a drive that spins up in time - check out the excellent digital spy forums for help on models known to be compatible. Aside from that it's just pop it in, wait and it works..

The other mod well worth doing is making the fan stay on all the time - my box stability increased 100x after doing that!

Yep I've done 4 sky+ boxes now and as long as you pick the right hard disk it's very easy. Also make sure you know which version of sky+ box you have before you start. As Dangel says head over to DigitalSpy forums and check out the upgrade thread.
