Cause i need some advice. ![]() Wanted to start DJ'ing as a hobby for about 2 years. Was just doing my usual wander round Ebay and started looking at turntables. Now I need some advice on the best turntable out of this little lot: 1) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...category=48460 2) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...category=48460 3) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...category=48460 Cheers in advance. Ben Edit: if you're in south east England, could you also suggest some places to get the LP's

I have a contact in the industry so might be able to cut you some deals if your interested (mainly hardware though, not LP's or anything). Apologies to any mods frowning upon me for the little plug ![]() Feel free to edit ![]() I'll dig out the link for you - quite an interesting read ![]() Nick |

DJs Heres the thread m8. I'll have a look at those links for you soon m8. Nick EDIT: From those links the Technics are the best (1210's are industry standard). Stay away from Gemini - they dont cut the mustard. As for those Sony decks - never knew they made DJ equipment - so that goes without saying.. There are some other decks around, they have extra gimmicks such as a wider pitch bend and reverse play etc etc - giving you more options as a bedroom DJ. Technics concentrate on stability - those decks wont loose any torque for years to come. I know someone whose still using the same 1210's for 10yrs!! So that shows the build quality! Also, the re-sale value on them is very high, as they are well respected. I hope I've helped you out, just for your information - I'm looking at the Numark TT200 as a starter deck - then if I take to em then maybe invest in some Technics ![]() Regards Last edited by Lead_Head; 23-11-2003 at 01:09 PM..

I know someone who's auditioned the Sony ones in a shop and it took the whole of 10 seconds to make up his mind. Still, if you get them at £30 + £30 p&P, Id say that is a find ![]() Gemini's - oh dear. Ive had that exact same mixer, and know plenty of people who have it too. It's not bad for a beginners mixer, it has got a lot of features on it (and looks quite nice) but things will fall apart soon, if it hasnt already - the kit's 2 years old and my mixer was in pieces by the end of 1 year). As for the decks, well, the XL500 is an entry-level direct drive - Gemini did a higher series (I dont know what the model #'s are now) called the PT's - I personally wouldnt consider anything in the XL range (as I said, I dont know how the modelling goes now so they've probably switched the series by now). If you had to go for 2nd hand Gemini's, the PT-1000/2000 would be the bare minimum Id go for - the XL500's perform on par with my first decks and I really cannot recommend that to anyone!. Technics is the way to go If you have the money, buy Technics, it's the best option on many levels . . .

Dont have the money unfortunatly. I just need some reasonable cheap things which will last me for a year. By then i'll hopefully have a few LPs and some skillz, or i'll have given up and not spent that much. ![]() Ben

What kinda music are you wanting to play? Ive got quite a few records that need to be cleared out - I can sell you some on the cheap for practice (by no means the best records, but they'll do for practice).

LOL, Im not typing them all out - for the money Im asking it hardly seems worth it. But if you let me know what kinda music you're into (or what records you wanna mix), and ask for a number of records, then I'll make a wee list to let you choose from.

i'm gettin some decks soon as well. at the mo, i'm just messin about with Reason, Logic n Cubase to try n make me own tunes, but decks will be a big bonus. from that list, personally i'd go for the technics, then just invest in a mixer. have a look on www.djstore.co.uk as they have a lot of products, and nearly all of em have user reviews. if war is the answer, then we are asking the wrong question 2 things i hate the most - xenophobia and the french "chuffing"

That was a good buy I reckon - a perfectly reasonable price (assuming they're in good condition) and they'll be fine to mix with - not great, but fine. If and when you go pro you can buy the Technics.
