The final bit of Carrie, when the hand comes out of the grave made me jump in the cinema. But that was the last western film that spooked me. I laughed at the Exorcist in the cinema.. (why's that dummy got that false head on backwards? Ohhhh... I see... it's the famous scary "Head Turning" scene....) Japanese Ring and Audition were the last movies that made me squirm in my seat. I guess the more movie makers spend on *scary* effects, the less willing I am to suspend disbelief.

Michael Jackson in the Thriller video had me hiding behind the sofa as a youngster. Nothing has ever really got to me though, quite a few films make me jump but not over the top. I've had dreams that are far scarier as they seem more real! If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

As-a-child-behind-sofa moment was definately old Ben Gardener's head appearing through the hole in his sunken boat in Jaws. Had quite an effect on Hooper too as I recall Last edited by Skii; 15-03-2004 at 01:35 PM..

Pet Cemetary - It's the middle of the day, he walking around in the garden, then the cat jumps out of the tree at him. Gets me every time Still - the funniest was watching my mate playing Tomb raider 2; he ran into one of the cave areas with cobwebs everywhere, at which point he mutters something about "bloody spiders" having had fun trying to kill the little ones earlier in the game. Then a giant spider drops off the ceiling in front of him. He falls back off his beanbag in fright (no mean feat I can tell you) and the controller sails through the air to land on the other side of the TV cabinet. Cue him panicking to find it, once he'd picked himself up, before she got killed. I laughed and laughed

This sounds kind of lame too... 28 Days Later, in a massive cinema, tottally fixed on the screen... They have just discovered that the city is empty, it's showing you the empty streets, and all of a sudden a Mercedes Benz car alarm goes off and the scren cuts to the car at the same time - OMG did I poop myself at that! Only *real* time I've been scared @ the flicks.... girlfriend still laughs at me to this day (even though she agrees it was quite a hairy moment)!!

| Lead Head that made me crap myself when I watched it on DVD... Especially seeing as the dialogue is so much quieter than the effects!!! | I am kinda desensitised when it comes to a horror movies.. At best, I find certain scenes "exciting" rather than "scary" (there are two scenes in "The Eye" I particularly like.. The "Why are you sitting on my chair" scene and the elevator scene). When it comes to slightly "demented" scenes, the last one I recall (as I just rented it yesterday) was the "Who's your daddy" scene in house of 1000 corpses. Although I've seen many more, and quite possibly worse. The last movie that genuinely made me uneasy was probably Angel Heart. I found most scenes with the "heartbeat sound" and the end when everything was revealed rather creepy at the time (I was like 14?). To be honest though, movies like "Dark Water" didn't do much to me.. I kinda -wanted- to be scared, and there were a few part were I felt that they were building the tension, but failed to deliver the "boo!" factor. Last edited by TooNice; 22-03-2004 at 12:53 AM.. |

hmm none in the last few years spring to mind, but when I was about 10 my sister made the grave mistake of letting me watch Nightmare on Elm Street. I completely freaked out at the part where they're in bed and the next thing Freddy's got one of them (can't remember which, the guy I think) going round the ceiling with the gf screaming her lungs out. I couldn't sleep on my own for a while after that
