    HD on NTL

Now that I've got my Samsung LE26 I'm wondering where the HD content is on NTL. Sports I'm not too fussed about, but Sky One and Movies would be nice as a start. Is this a subscription issue, or do I need to ask for new kit?

I don't have NTL so I'm not certain about this but I'm pretty sure that you will need a new box with an HDMI output.

There isn't an official HD receiver for 'pure' NTL viewers yet, although Telewest users have had it for a while.

I think Feb 14th should see some major changes (Virgin rebranding, NTL and Telewest channel realignment, and, hopefully, an NTL HD box).

Don't hold out too much hope for much HD content though, sky are being complete ******s in licensing content to the cable companies.

Yes there is, NTL are slowly rolling out the TV-Drive, not advertising it until it's available in all areas.

As for content, it's BBC HD and some Discovery thing only atm, Probably gonna be waiting a while for anything else But it's better value than Sky

Yup. What Howard said. Also, TV Drive is all mpeg2 content, re-encoded from the BBC's (and eventually Sky's?) native h.264 format. Judging by the quality of their encoding for digital SD, I'm concerned about the bitrates of their HD. It is only £10 per month though, and doubles up as a Sky+ box, so it's not all bad.

I was just about to start a thread asking when this V+ box will be available (recieved the info about the whole Virgin rebranding thing today, including a brief mention of V+), been waiting for an NTL equivelent to Sky+ for ages.

Would ring them and ask, but can't be bothered waiting for an hour and a half in a queue to speak to somebody in customer services who in fact usually ends up knowing less than me on the topic

We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?
