    480p

I've recently been playing PGR2 and Silent Hill 2 on my xbox in NTSC 480p mode, which (as far as I can see) still looks to be interlaced
What I'm seeing is a double image when movement occurs

eg - in PGR2, when a turn is made, the buildings go blurry as they pan across the screen and it's a really noticable blur from the bright cones across the road

in Silent Hill 2, when viewing the map - if you scroll around, the text on the map goes blurry in a very interlaced-style way

Viewing is fine when stationary or slow moving

I'm using a Monster Xbox Component cable, running into a 32" Panasonic Viera HD screen (1366x768) and I've enabled 480p in the dashboard

Does anyone have any input, please?

Apologies for the lack of technicality, but I think that makes sense

    Cheers in advance

Sounds like game engine issues rather then an interlacing issue TBH.

I'm kinda versed in the ways of prog scan However it sounds to me more like issues with the screen.

The image seemingly blurring when panning quickly is a common criticism of LCD screen technology I'm afraid. That and the fact that your TV is upscaling a 480 line signal to a 768 line picture could be causing your problems.

    that would make sense actually
curious that 480p upscaled to 768p looks just like my SDTV in 480i though huh?
I'll try it on the 26" Samsung HDTV and see what happens...

Ah, that's handy if you have another HD screen.

The whole upscaling thing can sometimes be a nightmare. I prefer to watch any 480 content through an interlaced CRT rather than try to watch it on a HDTV. Just don't like it.

If I get a better job and an external scaler that may change !

looks real good on the 26" Samsung - Still has the blur-o-vision on moving objects
I think that's just the way it works

Yeah, that's a trade-off of LCD unfortunately. You wouldn't get it so bad on plasma, but then you'd be scared of screen burn instead ! Can't win !
