| Portable video player of choice.. What are your thoughts on portable video players currently on the market guys? I don't really want to get myself an iPod Video, as much as iTunes is easy to use, its performance is dire - and I'm not buying a Mac (though I was tempted) just to get on with the requisite software with satisfaction. What are the Creatives like these days? I think they're called the "Vision" or am I just making that up? I've used one briefly and it seemed alright, but hows the software? In all fairness something with a slightly larger screen than the Creative I used (sorry, I should get the model) would be nice. Could use my MDA Vario with TCPMP or something similar but the CPU is noticably underpowered as it is, and I guess it would drain the battery no end. Waiting to upgrade to Vario II or whatever is out late this year. What else is out there? Thanks! |

| Well, Archos do a number of personal medial players that might suit, including this little lot. Oh, you're on track with the Creative - see HERE. I'd guess that you've looked at the Vision M. The Vision W might suit better on the screen size front. edit: Sandisk are launching the Sansa View, which has a 4" widescreen display, so that's another possible. I just got one of their MP3 players, the e280 and that's a nice device, so this might well be a good 'un. Last edited by nichomach; 07-02-2007 at 12:33 PM.. Reason: Additional info |

| What are you wanting it for? My brother has done very well with a Dell Axim x51. You can get one for about £220 at the moment, so with a 4gig CF or SD card added, you can store quite a bit. It's got a 3.5" screen, which is fine for viewing most things on. Nice and clear. Becasue it is a PDA, is has loads of great features as well, and the media player aspect is sort of a free bonus. As long as you would be able to update your media library every week or so, it's fine. If you need to store months of stuff, then a dedicated media player is more suitable. Archos are the pioneers in the field, but creative are fine as well. 939 3800 X2 | 2gig corsairXMS 3200C2 1950XT | 500gig,320,200,160 Plextor DVD burner | Yamaha CRW-F1 CD-drive Thermaltake Xaser 3 w 480W FSP | X-fi fatal1ty Camera setup: Canon 350D, Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 macro, Canon 70-300IS, Sigma 20 1.8, Peleng 15mm fisheye |

| how about iaudio A2 , it supports a lot of more format than the archo one and a lot smaller as well. _______________________________________________ People know how to read a book with words but not a book without words. | Well, they work with PlaysForSure and can use Windows Media Player for sync-ing, but I believe they also show up as a generic USB drive so you can drag and drop. |
