    Unhappy HD LCD question

    Hey everyone

    long time no see

    havent posted in ages..

i recently bought meself a 32" HD Ready LCD TV from Tesco's for £399, had it for over 3 weeks until last night....

The thing blew up while i was watching england being morbid....
one moment i was watching the footy, the next in total darkness after a flash from behind the tv and a little bang....

anyways-i've sorted it out with Tesco's -their either going to replace the one i have or fully refund me.... tbh they'll refund me because i don't see any of the models being sold is mine[ my model was the Bauer 32" LCD HD Ready tv]

anyways- i've got a good question.

Like with the old CRT tech -speakers that are too close to it either interferred or blew old CRT monitors/tv's.

now i wanna know does it work the same way with LCD's,say 2x hifi speakers pretty close-around 40cm ish to the screen itself.

because i think that either that blew it...

    anyways cheers in advance

    Vincent

The reason unshielded speakers used to interfere with unshielded CRT TVs and monitors was because they both use magnets.

The cathode ray is moved about the screen in a zig zag patern with high powered electro magnets at the rear of the 'gun'.

LCDs use a comtely different technology and should be effected by speaker magnets at all.

it died because it's a crap non-existant brand (hence the derisory price)

Get a refund and wait for the Samsung......

Even though Samsung do not make the best LCDs, they must be head and shoulders above the brand you did purchase.

Take a demo of some sets with a HD-DVD or BluRay drive connected and see just how much PQ difference there is between a good and a bad screen.

    this is a sarcastic comment:

i have no idea why it would go wrong. bauer are respected as the finest designers of technology this side of the horseshoe nebula.
    this is trolling:

it died because you're a big fat homo
this is a lengthy reply in a friendly tone, which takes ages to write and has lots of unnecessary detail:

a lot of brands in wide circulation aren't 'real' brands - they don't have any real presence in the UK, they lack proper warranty services (forcing you to go through the retailer for all issues), and the build quality is often poor. you can bag yourself a bargain, but often you'll find that it's a false saving. unfortunately it seems your 'bauer' set falls into this category - hence it dying. your best bet is probably to return it for a refund, and spend the extra cash on a better known brand (e.g. samsung are quite reasonably priced for a known brand)

as for the speaker thing, it's unlikely to have been related to the problem, as lcd monitors don't use magnets (except for their built-in speakers) whilst crts do.
this is a curt, to-the-point reply which removes unnecessary detail and doesn't cover points which don't relate to the main topic, whilst still conveying the core points of the above lengthy version:

it died because it's a crap non-existent brand (hence the derisory price)
