Last night I watched...The Faculty Before watching this movie, all I knew was that the teachers were aliens. Thats all I knew. I had wanted to watch it for ages, but never got round to it. So I nipped down to the local video shop to see what they had, and there it was...for only £2.50 so I got it and watched it the next day (these old videos, you get to keep 'em for a week!!). I don't know if this film is well respected or anything, I don't know if its considered complete and utter crap! I think this is a good thing because it won't sway my opinion of what I think of the film. So what did I think of the film? Well, I really enjoyed it. Get ready for comparisons to The Thing because it was so similar it was unbelievable! It was like, The Thing for the youth of today (or whenever the film was released). I liked all the clichéd characters - its funny...all of them were based on a common stereotype: Football jock, Geek, Older cool druggie, Sexy cool bird, uncool girl, new blonde girl...well ![]() One of my favourate scenes from The Thing is the scene when the do the blood tests. This scene was basically copied in The Faculty when they do the 'drug test'. It is much of the same, gun pointings "how do I know I can trust you?" yada yada. These kind of films are right up my street! I love films when nobody trusts each other The Thing style. The sense of paranioer (sp?) is really exciting. I thought the acting was rather cheesy on all accounts - but I love a good bit of cheese. Robert Patrick was his usual chilling self as the Football coach/creepy alien. The special effects...well...ahem...they were crap. Especially that big monster thing at the end. What the hell? The Thing was made 20 years ago and it looks far better than this bysbal attempt at CGI! Steve, HULK was better than this The bit when Famke Janson's head came off and grew legs - a definate homage to the operation scene from The Thing - only it looked 10 times more fake. Overall I thought it was a pretty decent film - but I think this may only be because I really enjoy this kind of Sci-Fi film. Some of you may think it is rubbish - thats fine. I love alien vs humans films. So i like this

Also I forgot to mention its directed by Robert Rodriquez. Director of Spy Kids trilogy, Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn and the up coming Desperado sequel Once Upon A Time In Mexico. He is a kick ass director!

First time I saw it I was disappointed, but second and third times were much better...and I did find the Science teacher still being about in the credits rather amusing. Not a patch on From Dusk 'til Dawn, though...or El Mariachi/Desperado/El Mariachi Remake III when its released (probably) Well Hello!
