    2.1 Speaker

My old Creative Labs one have died on me today and I'm looking for some new ones. I looked on Amazon (online vendor of choice as I have some vouchers for them already) and there is loads and I'm struggling to work out what is a good set.

These will be for my PC. So MP3s, games, TV series and Movies, etc. As title has to be 2.1 as I can't be bothered with 5.1 set-up. Are Logitech and Creative Labs still a good make, any others to look for/ avoid?

    Budget about £50-£120.

    Re: 2.1 Speaker

I was in the same position recently after my trusty Altec Lansing speakers went pop, ended up going for a Denon Stereo amplifier and a set of B&W speakers - not regretted it in the slightest. I've spent more than the budget you mention (the amp was new, the speakers second hand) but you'd be able to put something similar together on ebay for that budget - Nad amp and some Wharfdale Diamond 9s would possibly work?

If not, the other option I was going to consider was the Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Set. http://www.cclonline.com/product/198...ystem/SPK0136/

They'd be far better than the majority of PC speakers on the market, and very nearly got my money - it was only because I knew how good seperates stuff is, and I've got the room that they didn't.

£124.98 on Amazon for the Acoustic Energy AE26-06B AEGO. I will look at the review tomorrow.

Any love for Harman Kardon Soundsticks III? I personally think they look a bit ugly.

My only experience of those was at Uni, where they were used for music in the kitchen pre-night out - seemed decent enough, but not my cup of tea visually.

    Re: 2.1 Speaker

I'm not overly keen on volume control on one of the satellite speakers as I think a central control is more convenient.

    Re: 2.1 Speaker

I have a pair of JPW Monitors going spare if you want em (wont cost much) - just grab an amp off Richer Sounds and yer away. Only 2.0 but you can add a sub later. Bear in mind that you might not even want a sub with a decent pair of speakers.

Not got the space for a amp set-up.

Will see if my budget pushes for Acoustic Energy AEGO.

    Re: 2.1 Speaker

I'm glad someone made a thread about this as I presently use my monitor.

    Just to clarify:
you buy an Amp? then hook up 2 speakers to the back of it (assuming no sub)? Simple as that? Or do you need specific cabling too..

Pretty much pp05. Speaker cable and interconnects from source (PC) to amp and yer away.

If you are going for small ish speakers, and you want a small amp - then this would be worth a look:
