    What's your audio setup?

As above, what's your audio setup? Are you using speakers, or do you prefer using headphones? If so, which do you use and why?

    Amps/DACs etc?

I change mine a fair amount, but at the moment I'm using IE80s, and I have a Fiio E07K DAC. The IE80s are exactly how I imagine headphones/earphones should sound. Comfort is, eh mediocre; even after finding good fitting ear tips, they pop out. Much prefer Bose IE2's, but I could never go back from such quality sound. Speaker wise, I'm using Harman Kardon Soundsticks III. Smooth treble and deep bass. Mids are a little recessed, but I quite like the sound of them. In fact, I love them.

    Pictures would be awesome too

PS - feel free to include home cinema setup!

    B&W 805 speakers
Krell KSA-100 Mk-II (aka the beast)
    Benchmark DAC-1
    REL Strata III subwoofer.
Forget the model but a marantz transport.
    Trends UD-10a driving DAC-1
Some cheapo cambridge audio DAB receiver. (for the wife!)

I'll say again, the krell is a BEAST!

    Re: What's your audio setup?

    ^ a bit overkill for a computer

Xonar Xense edition - basically a Xonar essence sound card + sennhieser PC350 headphones with a matched profile/amp setting. For more casual gaming I've also a pair of Altec lansing MX5020s which give a nicely flat sound stage rather than bass+tinkle like most PC speakers.

    Re: What's your audio setup?

    DAC/Amp - Fiio E9 + E7 combo
    Headphones - Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250ohm and AKG Q701
    Speakers - Microlab SOLO6C

Nice having it as USB as it means I can use the DAC/AMP with any PC nice and easily, not sure which headphones I prefer, looking at getting something to sort out the headband of the Q701s and they aren't the most comfortable pair over the top of the head (lovely around the ears though).

    Re: What's your audio setup?

The audio side of my home cinema is broadly speaking:

    PMC FB1i Signature L/R
    PMC DB1i centre, rear surrounds
    2x BK Monolith's with Antimode
    PS3
    Apple TV
Sony STR2400ES AV receiver acting as a processor/preamp
    3x Behringer A500 power amps
    Belkin PF40 power conditioner

For my computer in the office I just have a pair of cheapy JBL Creatures with a REL Strata sub adding a little bit of depth.

That's great performance for the money though - good speakers and headphones for gaming.

    Re: What's your audio setup?

I have an Azur 351A (amp with built-in DAC) and Tannoy S30 speakers - used to use them on my PC, but now moved into the living room for use with the TV.

I've moved back to using the Creative T40 set with the PC, and the difference is huge. I loved the T40 when I got them, but now compared to proper hifi it sounds pretty dull.

Next step is to get the spare amp connected to the PC and see whether my Onkyo bookshelves sound any better.

    Re: What's your audio setup?

Right now in the flat I only have my Sennheiser HD598 plugged in to the "SupremeFX II" add in/on board. Sounds surprisingly good. They sound ok in the ipad, too.

    At "home"
    Logitech Squeezebox Touch
    Amptastic Mini-t
    Kef Q100
Had a fiio e17 but it seemed to brick itself, which was annoying as it worked well as a sound card and a way of switching inputs.
Reverted to the Xfi card and native squeezebox output.

    Re: What's your audio setup?

Use Logitech 5.1 for games and DVDs if I'm not watching on the properTV downstairs.

Also have proper old huge Celestion stereo speakers dating back to the 70s, and a big old cheapy brand yet powerful amp - switch that on for music and it gets fed out via a splitter cable. Too boomy for regular computer use though.

TV has a mishmash of Onkyo amp and Sony speakers at front and cheap JVCs at rear.

    Re: What's your audio setup?

On my gaming PC i use an Asus Xonar D2X Soundcard and Sony DS6500 headphones. Very very comfortable for extended sessions and although the 7.1 effect isn't anywhere near the kind of experience with speakers, I find that it does work and I can pinpoint locations much better in games like Battlefield. I also thoroughly enjoy putting on a podcast and mooching about the house with them on whilst cooking etc. Wireless headphones are great.... if you spend the money and get high quality ones.

In my office I have a Marantz MCR510 and Monitor Audio BX2.

I still havent done anything about the acoustics in the room, or isolating the speakers from the desk yet, must get round to that!

My home cinema setup is a Onkyo HDMI amp (dont know what model, its nothing fancy) and Tannoy F1 Mercury Custom speakers. I don't have a sub as Im living in a block of flats, don't feel the need for it really.

I have a set of Bose QC15s for travelling (I have been flying a lot over the last year) and Skype calls (the mic is pretty good and works well with my mac). I also have Beyerdynamic DT770s for more critical listening.

What are the 770s like? Just bought the DT 990s which arrive today and if I don't like them I'll probably return them.

I really like them. Balanced and comfortable, plus you can buy parts for them if something breaks. The 990s are the Open back varient though so the experience will be different.

    Re: What's your audio setup?

For my PC use a mini digital amp & passive speaker combination:

    Details here:
    http://forums.hexus.net/audio-visual...-speakers.html

In my living room I have a Sanyo Z3 projector, 80" screen, Sony 5.1 receiver, & Mission 'Cinema 7' 5.1 speakers. All connected to a cheap Samsung Blu-ray player
