    Best streaming set top box....

I am giving up on my Windows HTPC. I currently use it for Plex, but it's becoming increasingly ropey. For whatever reason there's major tearing in Netflix too, which I just don't get with my Roku boxes. I'm going to repurpose some other hardware as a dedicated Plex Media Server, and put a set top box under the TV instead. Ideally it will do:

    Plex
    Netflix
Must be able to output at 1080p

Amazon VOD (not super bothered about this)
iPlayer/4OD etc also nice to have

Recommendations? I guess Amazon Fire TV or Roku 3 are top candidates?

I use a Rikomagik Android stick. Runs full android so works with Netflix, Kodi, Amazon Prime Video etc, plus alot of grey area apps for online streaming. Paired with an air remote, its PERFECT.

Should've replied to this myself really. I ended up going for an Amazon FireTV stick. Works perfectly. Now I have to find another project for my passively cooled Haswell NUC.....

Re: Best streaming set top box....

Hi sorry for the thread resurrection. Just looking to get a fire stick and wondering whether it does netflix as well as amazon prime?

Our options seem to be Chromecast £30, fire stick £35, or appleTV £60 (discounted)

Since we're on android/windows we don't see the point in going for the apple TV and chromecast is apparently not so good for amazon prime so if the fire stick does AP, netflix and iplayer then it seems like the best option? Is it any good though?
