Just what can network enabled AV receivers do.

Thinking of getting an Onyko AV receiver but should I bother with a networked one. I've already got steaming services through Sky.

Any thoughts?

Streaming (Spotify, internet radio etc)
DLNA renderer (send audio/video files to process, moving the decompression load from your phone/tablet to the receiver)
Some also enable "remote control over LAN" - although I find that mostly a useless feature.

you may want to checkout Yamaha's new range as they can do some very cool network type things including a Sonos type functionality.

Stream music's over network ,yes but not convinced they will stream video.
I've read the blurb but find it rather ambiguous regarding this.

Mine can supposedly stream music over the network. The novelty wore off fast and I never use the feature, but I expect these days if you get a good high end unit with other features you do want then a network port is going to be in there as well.

So I would concentrate on the features you really need, and if networking works out then that is a nice bonus.
