I am looking for a hi fi or two to use in the kitchen and bedroom. I'd like it to have reasonable sound quality (have a 4w Philips micro hi fi at the moment in the kitchen). I've been trying to find a way to upgrade my old Sony hi fi (it's in the bedroom and has a broken cd changer, minidisc, tape, aux in) as the sound from the speakers is decent due to size of them and while I can find various bluetooth adapters they all need recharging and seem like a faff, nor do they have usb sockets.
Anyway, the two things I found so far are here:

I've just listened to the Sony one at my parents' house today and it's fine but didn't quite blow me away. I expect the Sharp one may be a little worse as the speakers seem smaller, although it's rated at the same power.
Can you recommend anything similar, but perhaps less obvious to me which may have a bit more of a wow factor soundwise? Or something that could make use of the Sony speakers.
I could go up a bit more than the Sony, perhaps £250-300 for something much better.
Thanks
