    Continuous insurance law question

So I understand that there is now a requirement for continuous car insurance, I have just taken out a new policy and it is from
    00:01 on the 5th

    My current policy expires
    23:59 on the 4th

Do I need to make any changes for my policy for those 2 minutes or is it risking a fine + points as it isn't technically "continuously insured" for that minute/2 minutes

Only asking as I'm annoyed enough that my policy has gone up since last year and the prospect of a fine and points on my licence to boot
    I've got stuff for sale!

    Re: Continuous insurance law question

I guess you will be alright given the lag often seen on the BigInsuranceDatabase™ but given my emphasis it's probably worth asking others.

Makes me wonder about my renewal though, even staying with the same company I'm sure there was that minute or so of "uninsuredness".

Can't see it being a problem as there would be hundreds of other people in the same boat. I'd also say that the database would just store the dates rather than the exact timings. However, I wouldn't drive during that minute or so as I'm sure neither insurance company would take a claim should an accident happen.

Yeah I waited 5 minutes before getting in the car on Saturday night/Sunday morning

Just seems silly that this law has come in and neither insurance company knew anything about it

Annoying some use 00:00 to 23:59 and others use 00:01 to 00:00

I'll bet £5 that the safest *statistical* time to drive is 2359--0001. There'll be NO accidents there on record. None, zero, zip.

Given that my road on the evening in question from 8pm-3am was full of fire engines, police cars (the traffic cars and panda cars), a few bobbies and a police chopper.... I beg to differ

    Re: Continuous insurance law question

Clearly then the accident/reason for their appearance happened outwith the 2359-0001 window

    Re: Continuous insurance law question

I think they're using a similar system to the VED here, so I wouldn't worry about it. I forgot about declaring my car SORN after the tax had ran out and there was about a 1 month gap. They just sent me a reminder in the post, I didn't have the police towing my car away the first day the tax ran out
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
